Minted in Philadelphia at the outbreak of the American Civil War, this 1861 3CS Type 3 Trime Three Cent Silver coin is composed from 90% silver and designed by James Barton Longacre. Colloquially known as a trime or the abbreviated 3cs, it features attractive toning on both the obverse and reverse, reflecting its rich history. With a mintage of 497,000 and an unknown survival rate due to widespread hoarding during the era's uncertainty, this coin is a rare and valuable addition for collectors. The coin features a six-pointed star with a shield on the obverse and an ornate "C" framing the Roman numeral III on the reverse.

This coin has been graded About Uncirculated Details by CAC and is encapsulated in a flawless CAC holder. It is noted that the coin had previously been cleaned at some point in time.
